There are no obvious issues to point out. It can also make use of speech to text engines to create the first draft for you. The software supports foot pedal controllers. You can control the playback speed to transcribe at your own pace. When it comes to transcribing audio recordings, Express Scribe Transcription Software does everything to make the process as simple and easy as possible. As a result, you will only need to go over the text and correct minor mistakes, instead of writing the whole transcript from scratch. Furthermore, the program can make use of third-party speech to text engines, like SAPI, to automatically create a draft of a transcript. For example, the software provides full support for foot pedal controllers, which gives you the possibility of pausing and resuming the playback without lifting your fingers from the keyboard. It comes with other useful features which simplify the transcription process. Of course, Express Scribe is more than just a glorified audio player with speed controls. The playback position indicator is quite sensitive and easy to move around, so if you fall behind, you can return to any section of the recording without struggling against preset increments. There you will also find two sliders for changing the volume level, as well as the playback speed. You can load your recordings on its upper half and play back selected items and write down what you hear on the lower half. The way the user interface is designed allows you to get started right away without delay. It works on all modern Windows platforms, and it doesn't require any third-party codecs or drivers. Regardless of which one you pick, you won't have to spend more than a minute downloading and installing the program. You can opt between free and paid versions, depending on what features you want to have. The software looks quite simple on the surface, but it packs quite a few features which you will definitely find useful. An excellent example is NCH's Express Scribe Transcription Software, which lets you control the playback speed of your recordings, manage them and much more. Is that normal, or a sign that I'm doomed for failure in this venture? :-P I slowed the audio down, sped it up, listened to it louder, just couldn't figure it out.Transcribing audio recordings has got to be one of the most tedious things you could do, but not if you have the right tools at your disposal. In both five minute segments, there were maybe 2-4 words that I simply couldn't understand. On the next piece I went through it all the way before double checking guidelines so I could get a better feel for my actual transcription speed - it was a lot faster that way! It was a medical piece though so I had to spend an additional 15 minutes looking up how to spell tricky words, or find out what a word was. A lot of that was rewinding to catch difficult to hear words, and part of it was looking at the Tigerfish guidelines for formatting. whew! One was a focus group and took me about 6:1. I transcribed two test segments for Tigerfish today. I hope on my new PC there are more options, but I'll have my foot pedal by then anyway. Thanks! I took your advice and assigned the only keys that don't have a picture on them - F5 and F6 - as start and stop. PS I am typing this on my Kindle so please don't take any typos as poor grammar/typing skills! Oh, and right now I work about 30 hrs/wk as a nanny. I will be getting a used foot pedal soon, and a brand new laptop this weekend (PC/Windows 8). I type 85-95 adjusted wpm (95-98% accuracy appx), am PC savvy but not great on hubby 's Mac. Please save me I'm getting a foot pedal on Wednesday but the geek in me *must* know.Ībout me since this is my first post: Just starting transcription, will start with general transcription part time, might move up to medical or full time if I like it. What can I do? I'm sorry if this is a silly question I looked and looked online and couldn't find my problem or a solution. I'm definitely selected in the correct window, since I'm typing in it and manually playing/pausing it. I have a problem though: when I try to use hot keys, the Mac itself responds with starting my iTunes, refreshing pages changing volume, what have you, instead of ES responding. Hello wonderful people! I've already learned a lot from reading this forum and other websites.
